Minutist is a local-first desktop application for meeting notes. It
records, transcribes, and summarises meetings on your own machine,
with no account or server required.
There are two distinct things you can use:
Free · local build
The desktop app
The desktop app (Windows, macOS, Linux) is free and open source
under the GNU Affero General Public License, version
3.0 (AGPL-3.0). The licence governs your rights to use,
copy, modify, and redistribute the software. The full licence text
is at gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.
The free build makes no network connections at runtime except
the model download you start yourself. There is no telemetry.
The MCP connector is a local endpoint on your machine: your own
Claude or Codex client can read the meetings you choose, which
sends that content to the AI provider on your request. It is
never called private.
Connected tier · AUD$20/yr
The paid subscription
The connected tier is a paid annual subscription. It adds
end-to-end-encrypted sync across your own devices and the
Android capture companion (iOS coming soon).
Sync is end-to-end encrypted: the server brokers the connection
and store-and-forwards ciphertext it cannot read. The connector
is separate from sync, and free: it sends the meeting you
choose to the AI provider; that is the point of it.
The connected tier is billed annually through Polar, our merchant
of record. The refund & cancellation
policy covers refunds and cancellation.
Acceptable use
Use Minutist lawfully. Record meetings only where you have the right
or consent to do so; recording-consent law varies by place, and
meeting that obligation is yours, not the software's. Do not use the
connected tier to store or transmit unlawful content or to infringe a
third party's rights.
Warranty and liability
The free desktop build is provided under the AGPL-3.0, as is and
without warranty, to the extent that licence and the law allow.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer
guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law
that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our
liability, our liability for the connected tier is limited to
resupplying the service or refunding what you paid for it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you
and we submit to the courts of that jurisdiction. Your rights under
the Australian Consumer Law apply regardless of this.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version,
and material changes affecting connected-tier subscribers will be
notified to them. Questions:
