Pre-launch. The free desktop build works today — it isn't code-signed yet, so your OS warns on first run. Paid sync, billing, and the mobile app aren't open yet. Get in touch.

Install on Windows

Minutist runs on Windows 10 and later (x64). The installer is a single .exe; no admin rights are required for a per-user install.

Release binaries are on the project’s GitHub releases page. They are not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen warns on first run (see below) — verify the SHA-256 checksum instead. You can also build from source.

  1. Download the installer

Download the .exe installer from the GitHub releases page. The version is in the filename.

  2. Verify the checksum (optional but recommended)

Open PowerShell and run, substituting the installer’s filename:

    Terminal window
    Get-FileHash .\minutist-<version>-x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the output against the SHA-256 checksum listed on the GitHub release.

  3. Run the installer

Double-click the downloaded file and follow the prompts. Choose “Install for me only” to avoid needing elevated permissions.

  4. First run

Minutist opens to a welcome screen on first launch. No account or network access is required. The first time you record a meeting, the app will prompt you to download a transcription model; that is the only network call the free build makes.

On Windows, the microphone is captured through the operating system’s communications pipeline, which applies beamforming, echo cancellation and noise suppression before Minutist sees the audio. It fixes muffled or quiet capture on laptops with multi-microphone arrays.

The installer places files under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Minutist and registers a Start Menu entry. No system-wide components are modified.

Follow the getting started guide to take your first meeting.
